Overview

The primary responsibility of the Master (Captain or Relief Captain) is to safely support Magnolia Fleet Operations.

Responsibilities

  • Work directly with vessel crew and shore-side staff to ensure they have the resources necessary to achieve the company’s goals.
  • Ensure the full implementation of TSMS on board his/her vessel at all times.
  • Operate the vessels in a safe and prudent manner.
  • Provide constructive feedback to management personnel regarding the policies and procedures contained in this TSMS.
  • Exercise the proper leadership and management skills required to ensure a safe, secure, efficient, and compliant operation. The Master shall take steps to operate the vessel in a safe and prudent manner, and supervise all activities onboard the boat, and when possible—the barge, while on watch.
  • Adhere to the provisions of the COI and maintain compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Complete all required computer-based training as assigned. 
  • The Master has the authority to carry out the position’s duties as needed.

Qualifications

  • Must meet “fit for duty” requirements upon job offer (pre-employment physical and drug test)
  • The employee must meet physical requirements including, but not limited to, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, climbing up/down ladders and stairs, negotiating uneven and moving surfaces
  • Must be able to work in difficult conditions with exposure to all weather conditions (rain, ice, snow, wind, heat, etc.)
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus 

Qualifications

  • Must have a minimum US Coast guard license of Master of Towing upon Inland Waters and Western Rivers with no Tonnage restriction. 
  • Must have valid Medical Certificate
  • Must have a valid TWIC.
  • Must have a valid/current driver’s license.
  • Must be able to work various hours/holidays/weekends.
